Shane's World (of Warcraft) Around Him

Yes, I play World of Warcraft (WoW). I stopped for awhile, while I was doing some study. But now I am back playing on a casual basis. Killing 10 of each creature, collecting 10 of each item and all while Ganking Alliance noobs and what have you...

Why do I play? I think it is the sense of achievement you feel when you hand in a quest, level up or pick up some epic lootz. There in lies the hook. This satisfying sense that you have moved up, moved on, become better... Virtually. I guess it is the multi player aspect as well. I love teaming up with a few other nerds and ridding the country side of those pesky giant spiders.

This is my main toon at the moment, Straggle: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Barthilas&n=Straggle

I had a Rogue for a long time, but that account has been banned, so I have started again. I don't really mind all that much as I realise that I actually enjoy levelling more then raiding endgame dungeons for phat lootz. I do miss PvP however, as there is nothing more satisfying then killing Alliance Gnomes (I hate them like poison).

Time to go and kill me 30 Ogres.. They just never learn. WTFBBQHAX!!!!

Barrens Chat... You won't understand until you go there...

Soccer

I arrived at the office today with all the usual suspects asking me if I had watched the football. Thinking they were talking about the NRL's State of Origin match, I casually said "You bloody bet I did! You bloody little ripper" trying to mask my joy at NSW winning round 1. I'm not a big a NRL fan, but the State of Origin is something else. It's a grand final atmosphere and everybody has their team playing (there are only 2 teams). "What about that penalty shoot out" somebody said... Oh dear god... They are talking about soccer. I made a hasty soccer worthy side step to my office.

Being from WA, I am an AFL supporter. Particularly the Mighty Sydney Swans.
While I fully respect the skill and talent of the players of soccer. Soccer is a game that frustrates me. With the constant back and forth, plus the lack of scoring, I simply find my self feeling incredibly irritable and angry after watching a match. Soccer is an 'almost' kind of game. "He almost scored", "We almost avoided a draw" and "I almost enjoyed that match".

Watching other football codes like AFL, NRL, UNION and even NFL, you notice something. These are contact sports! Contact in a big way. What do you get in soccer? A bunch of sooky la las rolling around on the ground like a bunch of fairy breads after they trip over themselves. Harden the fuck up! I think Soccer should adopt some of the rules and playing styles of the NHL... Ice Hockey. Can you imagine how cool it woul
d be to see soccer players 'check' each other over the side line? Awesome.

Enough of my rants... For now...

And then I started to blog...

I woke up this morning and found I was missing something in life. After I started this blog I realised it wasn't the fact that didn't have my own blog, it was that I was hungry and should not have skipped breakfast. I need some lunch.

I find blogging amusing. A place for anyone to rant about anything, but is anybody reading them? I doubt I'll have many people reading my blog. So this will pretty much be a diary for me. One day in the distant future when people have gotten over this fad called the internet (It'll never catch on). I'll remember I had a blog and read back through my comments and rants and wonder just what the fuck I was thinking...

If you read this and I doubt you will, you might be asking yourself; If I didn't read this, would I be asking myself anything?
